A Leica I Umbau III (often referred to as a ‘factory conversion’) is a vintage screw-mount Leica that was originally produced as a simpler model (usually a Leica I Mod. A or C) and was later upgraded directly at Ernst Leitz in Wetzlar to the technical specifications of a Leica III.
This upgrade programme was a unique service offered by Leitz: rather than buying a new camera, owners could send in their old model to benefit from the latest innovations.
The camera is fully functional. The viewfinder is clear and free from mould, cloudiness, dirt and scratches. The shutter speed settings also work perfectly.
In addition, you receive a 12-month manufacturer’s warranty on our second-hand products.
