Product information "Leica MP Classic Set Black Paint No. 474 10317"
The MP Classic set, released in 2004, is one of the most impressive Leica special editions ever made. Limited to just 500 sets, it was designed for the Asian distributor Schmidt Marketing to celebrate 50 years of the M system. Inspired by the original MP (1956/57), this set features a stunning black paint finish over a fully mechanical camera. Notably, this edition was introduced when all other M cameras included electronic features, such as a light meter or shutter, released a full decade before the modern-day M-A.
The set includes a Summicron-M 50mm f/2 (fifth version) redesigned in matching black paint, based on the classic Rigid Summicron. Other notable features include the black frame counter and black paint shutter crown, echoing the earliest M3 Black Paint models. This example is in near-pristine condition, with only a few hairline marks visible in certain lights on the top and bottom plates. The original box, matching strap, black paint front lens cap, and hood are all included.
