The Leica SUMMICRON‑M 28 mm f/2 ASPH., in the rare silver-anodised version dating from 2008, is a fast wide-angle lens for the Leica M system. The classic 28 mm focal length offers a generous yet natural-looking angle of view and is ideal for reportage, street, travel, architectural and available-light photography.
The optical design, comprising nine elements in six groups and one aspherical element, delivers excellent optical performance even at wide-open aperture, with high sharpness, clear contrasts and precise detail rendering. The maximum aperture of f/2 allows for flexible shooting in difficult lighting conditions whilst also opening up creative possibilities with selective focus in the wide-angle range.
With a minimum focusing distance of 0.7 metres, precise manual focusing and a compact metal mount, the SUMMICRON‑M 28 mm ASPH. offers the classic, direct Leica shooting experience. The high-quality silver anodised finish is significantly rarer than the black version, making this particular lens of particular interest to collectors and enthusiasts of special Leica M lenses.
