The Summicron-M 35mm f/2 ASPH (11879), produced from 1996 to 2016, marked a significant leap from its predecessor, the 11310 or "King of Bokeh", by introducing an aspherical element that dramatically improved sharpness, contrast, and edge-to-edge performance. While the 11310 is prized for its classic rendering and smooth, characterful bokeh, the 11879 offered a more modern and corrected image with minimal distortion. It was later succeeded by the 11673 in 2016, which retained the same optical design but featured refinements such as a metal hood design.
This example is in excellent condition with only minor paint loss around the edges of the front of the lens where the lens hood attaches. Includes hood, rear cap, leather pouch and e39 UV filter. This lens has also been recently serviced by Leica Germany and comes with a 2 year warranty certificate.
