An intriguing and uncommon example of the legendary Summicron 35mm ASPH, finished in black paint with no serial number which is a strong indicator that this is a factory sample lens. Over the years, a few such pieces have surfaced, typically created for internal use or testing, rather than as official prototype production models.
These lenses were never intended for public sale and are often engraved with “0000000” or, as in this case, left unnumbered altogether. They represent a fascinating chapter in Leica’s production process and are rarely offered on the market.
